Classic Boots No 1. - Puma King.

Any boot that is good enough for MARADONA, CRUYFF and of course PELE has to be deemed a classic and it can be no co-incidence that the three recognised greatest footballers of all time wore the same footwear. The PUMA KING was worn by PELE in the demolition of ITALY in the World Cup of 1970, by CRUYFF four years later in Germany 1974 and by MARADONA as he danced through the opposition of Mexico 1986.
.
I am sure that all three individuals would have had the pick of any boots to be worn even in an age before out and out overt sponsor-ship. Despite both Adidas and Puma wanting Pele in 1970, rather than have a bidding war, both firms agreed to let the player decide. The rest is history.
.
MARADONA was scouted by PUMA from an early age and despite a car crash of an ending to his career, his outstanding goals against England and Belgium were scored wearing Puma Kings.
.
The Puma King still goes strong today and shows that despite technological advances in footwear simple clean lines, soft supple leather and classic looks still have a place in the modern game.
.
Despite other manufacturers kicking the backside out of player endorsments PUMA thankfully have shown some reserve despite the big names attached to the boot. The picture above shows a very limited edition PUMA PELE KING which is a recent tribute to the boot from 1970. Its a genuine classic worthy of been worn by the best.
